Neuropsychological Services at PRC

Neuropsychological Services

At Pacific Rehabilitation Centers we provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and consultation for adults who are experiencing cognitive, behavioral, and/or functional difficulties related to a work injury.

A neuropsychological evaluation is recommended for individuals having trouble with cognitive, emotional and/or adaptive functioning. Common symptoms include forgetfulness, changes in behavior and/or personality, difficulty concentrating, confusion, language or communication difficulties, and other challenges that can impact returning to work following an injury. These evaluations are then used to provide diagnostic clarification, and inform treatment planning. A neuropsychological evaluation
assists with customizing the best course of care.

About Neuropsychological Testing

The goal of a neuropsychological evaluation is to assess how the brain is working including mental health conditions that can impact cognition (e.g., Depression). The process involves working one-on-one with the examiner participating in a clinical interview where we obtain relevant personal and medical history, testing or interactive tasks assessing various domains of functioning (e.g., intelligence, academic skills, emotional functioning, adaptive functioning, etc.), and feedback regarding test results with recommendations. The length of the evaluation generally ranges from three to six hours and may be conducted over the course of two or more appointments, if necessary.

It is important that on the day of testing to bring sensory aids (e.g., glasses, hearing aids, etc.), records from previous cognitive testing, and a list of current medications.

Multicultural Neuropsychological Evaluations

We are also dedicated to best practices in multicultural neuropsychology and we are able to provide culturally and linguistically proficient neuropsychological services to adults from diverse backgrounds. Currently, our neuropsychological evaluations can be completed in both Spanish and/or English. We work closely with interpreter services. Therefore, we are able to adjust our neuropsychological batteries to meet the specific needs for patients who speak languages outside of Spanish and/or English.
