The uncertainty and anxiety of the past view weeks has been difficult for all of us. Injured workers waiting for treatment so they can return to work are especially feeling that angst.

As such, telehealth is quickly becoming a well-loved solution for providing access to much needed healthcare. Using live-video conferencing people can access much needed treatment. Telehealth provides a convenient resource for expanding care and reducing barriers to treatment. Clients and providers find it to be beneficial and there is an expansive amount of research highlighting the effectiveness of telehealth for treating various medical and mental health conditions.

Effective March 25, 2020, Labor and Industries (L&I) is temporarily allowing Structured Intensive Multidisciplinary Program (SIMP) services to be delivered as part of telehealth. This is part of L&I’s Chronic Pain Management payment policy. This temporary TeleSIMP policy allows SIMP services to continue, while helping to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak by reducing in-person appointments.

Effective March 20, 2020, L&I is also temporarily allowing the delivery of rehabilitation services using telehealth, called “TeleRehab”. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists may use telehealth to deliver services for established patients in outpatient settings.

In an effort to help keep patients safe during this time, we have transitioned many of our rehabilitation programs to telemedicine, and will continue to support our clients and community through access to Physicians.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Return to Work-Pain Management Program offered via telemedicine beginning April 6, 2020.

Pacific Rehabilitation Center’s tele-behavioral health program may be just what some of your clients may need to help get them through these uncertain times.

If you ask the attending physician to make a referral for counseling through Health and Behavior codes, Workers Compensation does not require authorization for your client to talk with one of our psychologists.

Pacific Rehab is committed to helping you and your injured workers find certainty. Uncertain times do not need to take them down and with videoconferencing, we can teach them coping skills.
